The Dyer Partnership Engineers & Planners, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Senior Civil Construction Observer to contribute to an exciting wastewater treatment plant project in Clackamas County, Oregon. This full-time position (40 hours per week) offers a unique opportunity to work on a multidisciplinary team and gain valuable experience in the construction industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough observations of all construction phases for civil infrastructure projects, including water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, and pipelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with field representatives and project managers to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
  • Review pay applications and change orders, coordinating with the Contractor and Engineer as needed.
  • Maintain meticulous records of all project files onsite, ensuring organization and accessibility.
  • Track and document plan changes on record drawings for accurate project documentation.
  • Provide site tours to clients or funding agencies as required, showcasing project progress and addressing inquiries.
  • Facilitate onsite construction management meetings, preparing concise meeting minutes for effective communication.
  • Coordinate and review submittals from contractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Review and provide insightful comments on construction schedules, change orders, delays, and daily field operations to optimize project efficiency.
  • Assist in coordinating the startup and testing of wastewater treatment and pumping facilities, ensuring proper functionality.
  • Track change order values and costs for accurate financial reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the project team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in construction observation or a related field.
  • Possession of industry-recognized certifications relevant to civil construction observation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively address construction challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals.
