About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lacrosse Coach to join our team at St. Catherine of Siena Academy. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the women's lacrosse program, creating and implementing training plans, instructing and mentoring student-athletes, and promoting a positive and competitive team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Create and implement comprehensive training programs to enhance players' skills, fitness, and tactical understanding.
  • Conduct regular practice sessions, focusing on skill development, team strategies, and game preparation.
  • Plan and oversee all aspects of team play, including offense, defense, and special teams.
Athlete Development

The coach will provide individualized coaching and feedback to help athletes improve their performance and achieve their personal and team goals. They will also monitor and assess players' progress, making necessary adjustments to training plans, educate players on the importance of nutrition, injury prevention, and overall wellness.

Team Leadership

Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes hard work, discipline, and mutual respect. Encourage sportsmanship and appropriate conduct both on and off the field. Promote academic success and ensure athletes maintain academic eligibility.

Communication

Maintain open lines of communication with players, parents, school staff, and the athletic department regarding schedules, events, and athlete progress. Collaborate with athletic trainers, strength coaches, and other staff to support player development and health.

Administrative Duties

Manage team logistics, including practice schedules, travel arrangements, equipment, and uniforms. Ensure compliance with school, CHSL, and MHSAA regulations. Keep accurate records of player participation, performance, and team achievements.

Qualifications
  • Previous coaching experience, particularly in lacrosse, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively with high school aged student athletes.
  • Commitment to the values and teachings of the Catholic faith.
  • Excellent leadership, motivational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Certifications: AED, CPR, and First Aid certification; coaching certification preferred.
  • Background check and clearance required.
Work Environment

Practices and games typically occur outdoors, with exposure to various weather conditions. Requires evening and weekend commitments for practices, games, and other team events. Capacity to travel with the team for away games and tournaments.

The Women's Lacrosse Coach plays a vital role in developing the skills and character of student-athletes, preparing them for success both on and off the field. This position demands dedication, patience, and a passion for coaching and mentoring young women.
