Apex Systems is in search of a Software Architecture Manager to oversee architectural initiatives and lead a talented team of software architects.

Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the development of a next-generation Cyber data solution. This program is designed to enhance the cybersecurity framework of various networks and systems, ensuring improved awareness and visibility into security postures and cyber threats. The responsibility encompasses the design, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive 'Data Services' solution, which integrates data collection, normalization, visualization, and sharing from multiple agencies.

We are looking for individuals who excel in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where critical thinking and problem-solving are essential. The program adheres to the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement in cybersecurity practices is crucial.

The Software Architecture Manager will be tasked with creating and executing scalable, reliable, and high-performance software systems. This includes assessing and recommending appropriate tools and technologies, as well as establishing technical standards and guidelines to uphold best practices in software development. Close collaboration with product management to ensure architectural alignment with program objectives is vital, along with hands-on involvement in coding, debugging, and problem-solving activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing a team of software architects, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Conducting architecture and code reviews to maintain high-quality standards and adherence to best practices.
  • Overseeing project timelines and deliverables while managing resource allocation across various core component areas.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that architectural designs align with business goals and technical requirements.

The successful candidate will possess extensive expertise in software architecture, design patterns, and strategic planning, guiding critical architectural decisions and long-term technical direction. Additionally, they will conduct technology evaluations to ensure that the architecture meets both current and future needs, while identifying and mitigating risks associated with architectural choices.

Required Qualifications:

  • US citizenship with the ability to obtain Public Trust Suitability.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in software architecture and development roles, with a focus on leadership and managerial responsibilities.
  • 6+ years of experience in solution design, software architecture concepts, and cloud-native services.
  • 4+ years of hands-on programming experience in Python or Java, including application containerization and data management.
  • 2+ years of experience in recruiting and managing a diverse team of engineers.
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture principles and effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with ALM tools and knowledge of the Cyber Mission space.
  • Experience supporting large Federal programs and understanding of various methodologies/frameworks.
