About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Architect to join our team at McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of complex projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Leadership: Provide design direction and oversight for projects, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and aesthetics.
  • Project Management: Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with clients, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that project goals and objectives are met.
  • Design Development: Develop and refine project designs, including creating and presenting design concepts, and collaborating with the design team to ensure that designs meet project requirements.
  • Construction Administration: Oversee the construction process, including reviewing and approving shop drawings, submittals, and responding to RFIs.
  • Team Management: Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
Requirements
  • Professional Degree: Hold a professional degree in Architecture from an NAAB-accredited program.
  • Registration: Be registered as a licensed architect.
  • Experience: Have 6-8 years of combined experience as a design professional and/or architect.
  • Skills: Possess proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Revit, as well as a firm grasp of building technology fundamentals.
  • Communication: Demonstrate excellent time management, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree: Hold a Master's Degree in Architecture.
  • Software Proficiency: Have experience with Newforma Project Center and/or Newforma Project Analyzer, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam PDF Revu.
  • Certifications: Possess additional relevant certifications indicating expertise in construction administration, interior design, LEED/Green Globes/sustainability, etc.

Work Environment

The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, sitting, using hands to grasp objects, reaching with hands and arms, balancing, stopping, kneeling, or crouching, speaking or listening. The work environment is typically moderate, with occasional exposure to hazardous working conditions in conjunction with construction site visits.
