Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Test Technician to join our team at Lockheed Martin Corporation. As an Environmental Test Technician, you will be responsible for setting up, modifying, and servicing equipment designed to simulate environmental conditions encountered in launch and space environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setup and operate equipment to simulate environmental conditions such as vibration, structural stress, thermal, and atmospheric changes.
  • Perform tests and accumulate data on major vehicle systems or subsystems relative to the reaction of the test item to conditions under which the item is tested.
  • Determine and accomplish the appropriate setup of test equipment and test specimen to perform tests and obtain test data at the system or subsystem level.
  • Operate and monitor equipment such as high vacuum and cryogenic systems, solar simulation apparatus, closed loop vibration controllers, high pressure load control systems, and fluid dynamics stimulators.
  • Work to written test requirements/instructions, Test Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, or practices and engineering information.
  • Select or design/develop, improvise, modify, and fabricate test aids, fixtures for monitoring devices, specialized apparatus, and similar items required to completely setup for, conduct or monitor tests, and to evaluate test articles.
  • Develop programs for and operate heat flux simulators, data systems, high pressure fluid dynamic stimulators, electronic controllers, data recorders, gauges, and radiation sensors.
  • Assist in the troubleshooting of test setups and specimens involved in tests and advise Test Event lead (Sr. Technician or Test Engineer) where major problems are encountered.
  • Record data in accordance with prescribed requirements and participate in evaluation of data as required.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of set-up and operation of vacuum and cryogenic space simulation equipment; ground handling and flight simulation equipment, and shop theory and practice related thereto.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic test control, recording, and read-out equipment associated with simulation equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and sketches, manufacturers' manuals, and similar technical data.
  • Typically requires knowledge of electronics technology equivalent to a two-year program presented by junior colleges and technical institutes, and one year of testing experience with cryogenic, high vacuum, and dynamic test equipment.
  • Must possess all certifications as required.
  • Must be able to maintain and obtain a secret clearance.
