Position Overview:

We are seeking a Custodial Operations Specialist to contribute to our housekeeping team. This role is vital for the upkeep and sanitation of campus facilities, ensuring a safe, functional, clean, and inviting environment for learning and living. Responsibilities include cleaning designated areas, addressing maintenance issues, and responding to inquiries from staff and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and replenish supplies in common areas, including restrooms, sinks, showers, toilets, and entryways.
  • Perform vacuuming in carpeted spaces, including moving furniture and spot cleaning as necessary.
  • Execute sweeping and mopping of floors, stairwells, and other surfaces.
  • Conduct surface cleaning tasks, including dusting and scrubbing of furniture, walls, and kitchen appliances.
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling from assigned locations.
  • Carry out light maintenance tasks, such as repairing restroom dispensers, cleaning drains, replacing lights, and pressure washing.
  • Shampoo and extract carpets and upholstery as needed.
  • Refinish flooring through stripping, waxing, and buffing processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of 9th grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in custodial or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using both small and large tools necessary for cleaning tasks.
  • Familiarity with standard office software and work order systems.
  • Flexibility in adapting to work assignments and urgent needs.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and proper use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to operate a fleet vehicle when required.
  • Capability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Health Assessment Requirement:

A physical examination is required for this position as per UCF policy.

Additional Information for Applicants:

A valid Class E driver's license is necessary for this role, which may involve travel to various locations for university-related tasks.
