Job Summary:

As a skilled Emergency Services Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. You will assist nursing staff in performing designated duties related to patient care, ensuring the safety, comfort, and welfare of our patients.

Key responsibilities include assisting with vital signs, EKGs, basic wound care, and documenting care in the electronic medical record. You will also maintain supplies per department standards and demonstrate good knowledge and practice in sterile and isolation techniques.

Additionally, you will assist with instructing patients in crutch walking and apply splints and orthopedic appliances under the direction of the RN or practitioner. As a phlebotomist, you will function as directed by the RN or practitioner.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist nursing staff with designated duties related to patient care
  • Document care in the electronic medical record
  • Maintain supplies per department standards
  • Demonstrate good knowledge and practice in sterile and isolation techniques
  • Assist with instructing patients in crutch walking
  • Apply splints and orthopedic appliances under the direction of the RN or practitioner
  • Function as a phlebotomist as directed by the RN or practitioner

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience in a emergency department or urgent care setting
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required
  • Registered Medical Assistant (Washington) within 4 months of hire AND Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certificate (Washington) within 4 months of hire OR Interim Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) within 4 months of hire OR Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire
  • Basic Life Support required at hire

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and clinical staff
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge and skill in emergency services protocols, patient safety, and clinical standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of clinical experience in a emergency department or urgent care setting
  • EMT training
