Job Summary

The Emergency Department Technician provides critical support to the Emergency Department (ED) nursing and licensed independent practitioner (LIP) staff by performing tasks that assist in the care and treatment of patients with illnesses and injuries. This role serves as a liaison among members of the healthcare team, patients, and families, ensuring seamless communication and coordination of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or licensed independent practitioner (LIP), anticipating their needs and ensuring timely interventions.
  • Performs basic patient care, including vital signs, patient hygiene, mobility assistance, specimen collection, and preparation of equipment and supplies for procedures.
  • Assists in the facilitation of patient education relative to the treatment plan, providing clear instructions and guidance to patients and families.
  • Monitors, orders, and restocks unit supplies and emergency equipment as indicated, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Assists in the patient admitting, transfer, and discharge procedures, transporting patients via wheelchair and stretcher as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with all caregivers regarding patient issues and equipment, ensuring a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Requirements
  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification
  • Washington Nursing Assistant Certification License or Washington Nursing Assistant Registered
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
