About the Role

As a Marine Field Technician at Republic Services, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our marine services, emergency spill response, and industrial cleaning projects. Your primary responsibility will be to deploy and operate light and heavy equipment, including workboats, skimmers, pumps, blowers, marine/mobile cranes, and vacuum transfer systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the team on projects as needed by performing labor-intensive tasks in potentially dirty and physically demanding environments.
  • Load and unload equipment, boom, and anchors from and into vessels, vans, flatbeds, and trailers.
  • Attach and deploy boom of various sizes and set and remove anchor systems.
  • Understand and complete paperwork to comply with procedures and regulations, such as vessel/vehicle logbooks, placards, and labeling, Department of Transportation inspections, etc.
  • Perform inventory, maintenance, and cleanup of boats, equipment, and work areas to ensure supplies are available and compliant.

Requirements

  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain it after hire.
  • Knowledge of gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, vessels, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment and oil skimming systems.
  • Ability to diagnose commonly occurring malfunctions and skilled in using hand and shop tools, and instruments.
  • Knowledge of welding practices and procedures.
