Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Support Assistant to join our team at Ansible Government Solutions. As a Medical Support Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the Hampton VA Medical Center by providing exceptional patient care and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and manage patient appointments and consults, ensuring seamless communication with clinical teams.
  • Provide general reception support in Release of Information (ROI) offices, handling sensitive information with discretion.
  • Scan insurance cards, protect secure information, and complete all insurance buffer (ICB) encounters as required.
  • Scanning of records and documents into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to support HIM functions at medical centers.
  • Make and receive phone calls, providing excellent customer service to patients and staff.
  • Review and reconcile claims/vouchers for payments using electronic systems.
  • Assist in arranging transportation for eligible patients and work with clinical teams to request appropriate modes of transportation.
Requirements
  • Citizen of the United States of America.
  • Ability to speak clearly, hear, and write English.
  • Proficiency in computer programs, including spreadsheets and word processing, with a typing speed of 40-50 wpm.
  • Heavy phone and computer usage, often simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, hospital terminology, and/or clinics.
  • Technically proficient in skills necessary to fulfill government requirements, with training provided by the SFVAHS on appointment management, VA policy, and procedures.
  • Minimum qualifications: six months of clerical, office, customer service, or administrative work, or one year of education above high school, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Ability to pass a required level of security clearance (NACI-level background check).
  • No sponsorship available.

All candidates must be able to perform physical tasks, including sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, and reaching above shoulders during the work shift.
