Medical Assistant I

Key Responsibilities:- Accurately measure and record vital signs, ensuring timely and accurate documentation in the EMR.
- Conduct patient interviews and histories, vital signs, treatments, and test results with precision and attention to detail.
- Assist medical staff with patient examinations, providing a seamless and efficient experience.
- Utilize CPR skills when necessary, ensuring the highest level of patient care.
- Maintain supplies, equipment, stocks, and sterilize instruments to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Provide patients with clear instructions and information regarding preparations for services and necessary registration.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient and organization information, adhering to federal and state regulations and organization policies.
- Participate in development activities and maintain affiliations with medical assistant associations, as applicable.
- Commit to concepts of preventative health care programs and team-based approach to healthcare delivery.
- Perform front office duties, including reception, patient check-in/check-out, payment collection, and electronic scheduling.
- Conduct routine screening tests and draw patient blood samples as directed, preparing samples for ordered laboratory analysis.
- Prepare and administer ordered injectable medications and immunizations, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
- Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform other first aid procedures with precision and care.
- Assist patients with scheduling internal/external referrals, providing exceptional customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for patients and staff.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited school of medical assisting or combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Phlebotomy and lab experience.
- Experience working front office.
- Preferred: Medical Assistant certification through AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT. Certification through another accredited association will need review/approval.
- Preferred: Skill certification through NIOSH or CAOHC.
- Experience working in a Primary Care setting.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus but not required.
- Experience working in a medical facility and/or front office preferred.
- Current CPR (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Commitment to concepts of preventative health care programs and team approach to healthcare delivery.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral/written).
- Proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
