Position Overview

Applewood is in search of a skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Cardiac Services or an experienced ICU/CCU RN eager to transition into Cardiac care. Candidates must possess relevant experience in one of the specified areas to qualify.

This role offers Full-Time employment with 10-hour shifts, primarily Monday through Friday. On-call duties will rotate every 4-6 weeks, with Saturday hours from 10 AM to 3 PM for Stress Testing.

This is a unique full-time opportunity; we are currently conducting interviews.

The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care to assigned patients in alignment with ANA standards, the NJ Practice Act, Joint Commission, and established hospital policies and procedures.

  • Assist physicians by monitoring patients during cardiac testing procedures.
  • Identify adverse reactions to medications and respond promptly.
  • Recognize changes in patient conditions and emergency situations, taking immediate action as necessary.
  • Promote healthy lifestyle changes through patient education.
  • Educate patients on cardiac disease processes and outline recovery plans for cardiac rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough nursing histories and baseline assessments that are systematic, consistent, and ongoing, ensuring effective communication and documentation.
  • Analyze health status data to determine nursing diagnoses and identify needs for appropriate nursing care or medical interventions.
  • Identify patient issues and formulate nursing diagnoses based on physical, psychological, spiritual/cultural, and educational needs, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Involve patients and families in developing individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications as required, adhering to policies and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Take immediate action in the event of medication variances.
  • Continuously enhance personal nursing practice and professional development.
  • Participate in unit meetings to discuss quality improvement initiatives.
  • Delegate appropriate care components to non-professional caregivers.
  • Make informed decisions that reflect knowledge of nursing practice and sound clinical judgment.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking in patient care coordination to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Provide interventions for pain management and document assessments and interventions.
  • Notify physicians regarding unrelieved pain as necessary.
  • Educate patients and families about cardiac risk factors and rehabilitation plans.
  • Lead discussions on quality issues and improvement strategies within the unit.
  • Manage daily operations of cardiac rehabilitation and provide coverage as needed.
  • Ensure timely and equitable assignment of tasks.
  • Foster teamwork within the department and organization.
  • Engage in performance improvement activities aligned with national standards.
  • Oversee the accreditation process for Cardiac Rehabilitation.
  • Respond to emergencies within the department.
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.
  • Identify and respond to the needs and expectations of both internal and external customers.
  • Establish and implement evidence-based standards of care, evaluating patient care against these standards.
  • Act as a change agent and role model to enhance nursing practices.
Required Qualifications
  • BSN is mandatory.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in telemetry or critical care is required; experience in emergency care is also considered.
  • RN License in New Jersey is required.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • ACLS certification is required.
  • Specialty certification in cardiac rehabilitation is required or must be obtained within two years of employment.
