Job Overview

Join the Audit Unit of the Nevada Supreme Court, Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) as a Judicial Audit Specialist. Under the expert guidance of our Audit Supervisor, this role serves as a crucial intermediate level auditor, initially collaborating closely with our team to develop expertise in judicial auditing while immersing yourself in the intricate policies and procedures of our esteemed Court system.

You'll be at the forefront of ensuring that our courts maintain the highest standards of internal controls, meticulously evaluating their compliance and conducting a variety of financial and operational reviews that delve deep into the core of our judicial system.

The Judicial Audit Specialist is tasked with analyzing fiscal processes, scrutinizing internal controls, optimizing systems, refining policies, and conducting field investigations.

Your contributions will resonate across the Nevada Supreme Court as you prepare and present reports with findings and recommendations aimed at continuous improvement. Additionally, you'll play a vital role in promoting financial best practices and minimum acceptable standards through engaging training sessions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in conducting reviews and analyses of operations and fiscal affairs, organizational structure, and responsibilities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
  • Review procedures and operating controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Audit court records for financial accountability, case tracking, records management, and asset control.
  • Evaluate the reliability of management data and appraise the quality of performance for assigned responsibilities, recommending operational improvements.
  • Prepare audit work papers, documenting each step in the audit program, ensuring clarity, conciseness, and accuracy.
  • Perform transaction and compliance testing to assess the existence, efficiency, and effectiveness of internal control procedures.
  • Assist in analyzing and recommending solutions to operational and fiscal management challenges.
  • Conduct compliance audits to ensure that funds are utilized in accordance with grantor or funding rules and regulations.
  • Contribute to the development of new policies or modifications to existing policies based on audit findings.
  • Participate in special studies, reviews, or other related audit projects.
  • Assist in assessing program effectiveness and proposing enhancements for improved efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • Prior auditing experience.
  • Creativity: Ability to think innovatively and develop new approaches to auditing processes.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to thoroughly examine and analyze financial records and documentation.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate audit findings clearly.
  • Time Management: Efficient organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Prior experience in government, regulatory, internal audit, court, or government finance roles is a plus.

Effective remote work capabilities and collaboration with colleagues from a remote location are essential. Candidates must be proficient in virtual meeting platforms and possess a reliable internet connection.
