Job Summary:

As a Physician Assistant at Kaiser Permanente, you will provide high-quality, efficient, and patient-focused care under the direction of a supervising physician. Your responsibilities may include managing patients in various settings, such as offices, hospitals, emergency departments, and perioperative environments. You may be required to assist in surgeries or perform other department-specific procedures. Additionally, you may be responsible for facilitating on-call responsibilities for your supervising physician.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examine patients, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and compile patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as imaging studies, electrocardiograms, and laboratory tests, and interpret test results for deviations from normal.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care, and manage infections.
  • Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in providing continuity of care.
  • Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance and other relevant patient education.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • First assist in surgeries or perform procedures as applicable.
  • Round on inpatients.
  • Perform admission evaluations on patients, including obtaining basic medical information and history, reviewing patient medical records, performing physical examinations, documenting findings into patient medical records, and reporting deviations from normal findings to attending physicians.
  • Provide patient and family education on pre-operative/pre-procedure and other pertinent topics.
  • Review patient charts, noting allergies, pertinent medical history, and abnormal physical findings.
  • Assist in performing surgical procedures and other procedures consistent with standards of care and practice guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program by start date.
  • Physician Assistant License (California) required at hire.
  • Physician Assistant National Certificate required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Robot training preferred.
  • MUST have first assist.
