Job Summary

The Physician Assistant is a vital member of the surgical team at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland, providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the hospital's mission to deliver exceptional healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform assessments of patients and coordinate work-ups to ensure timely and effective care.
  • Participate in rounds and perform assigned procedures to support the surgical team.
  • Support inpatient case management, including ordering, progress notes, and discharge coordination.
  • Perform consultations and manage assigned outpatient clinics to provide comprehensive care.
  • Facilitate the provision of optimum healthcare for patients and their families in conjunction with other healthcare team members.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Physician Assistant Program.
  • Licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of California.
  • Experience in pediatric patient care, required.
  • Specialized educational preparation and/or extensive clinical experience in the specialty area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Computer knowledge and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and work independently, problem solve, and prioritize demands.
  • Utilization management or experience with healthcare provider systems.
  • Knowledge of pediatric conditions is highly desired.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for up to 6 hours/day.
  • Ability to stand/walk for up to 6 hours.
  • Ability to bend/stoop for up to 3 hours.
  • Ability to reach for up to 6 hours.
  • Ability to use upper extremities for up to 6 hours.
