Job Overview

Position Summary: The Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Consultant plays a vital role in evaluating energy performance, conducting energy assessments, and verifying green building standards for multifamily residential properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine utility consumption data for energy and water performance metrics.
  • Adhere to established energy audit protocols and utilize corporate resources to assess energy and water conservation strategies.
  • Generate ASHRAE Level 2 Energy Audits to meet various funding criteria.
  • Conduct property inspections to gather necessary data for Energy Audits and Green Building Verification, ensuring timely and professional communication with stakeholders.
  • Create Energy Models for multifamily residences and prepare reports that outline energy-saving opportunities and compliance with green financing.
  • Effectively communicate with management regarding project-specific challenges and updates.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements to facilitate project completion, ensuring timely submission of expense reports.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned.

Direct Reports: This role does not have any direct reports.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, sustainability, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Desirable experience includes green building consulting, energy auditing, energy modeling, and project management in construction.
  • Strong writing and computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to critically assess data and resolve issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong organizational abilities, independence in work, and a willingness to learn.
  • Preferred certifications include RESNET Home Energy Rater (HERS) and various Energy and Green Building credentials such as BPI-MFBA, LEED-AP, and others.
  • Experience with energy modeling software (e.g., REM/Rate or Ekotrope) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with building diagnostics, including blower door and duct leakage testing, is preferred.
  • ASHRAE Level I/II energy auditing experience is a plus.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

Work Environment: This position may require occasional travel within the United States.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, balancing, kneeling, and lifting.
  • Capability to work at heights and lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
