Job Summary

The Human Resources Consultant - Employee Relations plays a vital role in supporting the LSU Health New Orleans community by providing expert guidance on employee relations, policy development, and administration of human resource policies and procedures. This position serves as a key advisor to employees and management, ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultative advice and services on employee relations, policy development, and administration of human resource policies and procedures.
  • Support supervisors on performance development, discipline, investigations, and grievances.
  • Analyze individual situations and determine appropriate interventions, including one-on-one counseling, coaching, or development of individualized employee development tools.
  • Investigate and provide consultation in harassment and discrimination cases, as well as manage mediation for staff and supervisors.
  • Facilitate the classified staff grievance process and assist with Fitness for Duty determinations with the Campus Assistance Program.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues, including conducting investigations and preparing/writing findings.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in Higher Education.
