About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent to join our team in Houston, TX. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the overall progress of one or multiple projects, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards and within the specified timeframe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Area Managers, Project Executives, and Project Managers in overseeing project progress.
  • Ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards and within the specified timeframe.
  • Direct activities of field supervisors and workers related to construction of roadways, dams, highways, pipelines, or other construction projects.
  • Read and understand plans, specifications, and local building codes.
  • Schedule and document all required inspections, quality testing, or other compliance requirements.
  • Comply with and document environmental permits and inspections.
  • Complete daily reports, including units complete, safety reports, EEO meetings, and weekly unit cost worksheets.
  • Read and understand global project schedules and generate two-week construction schedules weekly.
  • Schedule and order materials, inspections, and manpower to meet project schedules and specifications.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and adherence to construction schedules.
  • Confer with and direct personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Maintain a general knowledge of equipment used on the job, including basic understanding of equipment limits and designed purposes.
  • Track delivery, use, and completion of rentals on the job.
  • Complete regular performance reviews for employees under their direction in a complete and timely manner.
  • Resolve complaints and grievances.
  • Complete at least 10 hours per year of continued education relating to construction management.
  • Attend monthly Superintendent meetings and actively participate.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5+ years of dirt/earth superintendent work experience leading heavy equipment crews.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of work experience and understanding of all phases of utility/urban reconstruction.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of concrete work, specifically concrete removal.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of reading blueprint and specs for dirt work on roadway earth work projects.
  • Education: four or more years related experience and/or training; or a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in scheduling, ordering, field supervision, safety management, quality control, and budgeting of all phases of civil construction.
  • Flexibility to work alternate schedules or weekends based on business needs.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Pass criminal and driving background checks.
