The Level II Mechanic plays a crucial role within the Pratt Miller Motorsports Team, undertaking responsibilities both in the workshop and at the racetrack.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS:
Typical duties encompass, but are not limited to, the following:
Mechanic Oversight: Direct and communicate requirements, ensuring accountability to team and organizational objectives.

Mentor and train Associate and Level 1 mechanics to align processes and enhance the quality of work in accordance with team expectations.

Identify improvement opportunities and spearhead initiatives to implement enhancements.

Support and guide Level 1 and Associate Mechanics in adhering to processes and utilizing available resources to complete tasks accurately and promptly.

Vehicle Preparation: Ensure vehicles are ready prior to each event, confirming that all pre-event development tasks are addressed.
Collaborate closely with the Crew Chief, Car Chief, and Race Engineer to prioritize vehicle reliability and performance enhancements.
Assemble car components according to engineering specifications and blueprints.
Refine and deepen understanding of all vehicle subsystems.Spare Inventory and Tracking: Utilize Pratt Miller database software to monitor mileage.
Coordinate with the Crew Chief and Pratt Miller departments to procure necessary spare parts.
Ensure that both the mechanics and the vehicle are prepared to execute all event phases.
Conduct vehicle servicing and preparation.
Execute pit stops, including tire changes.
Assist with additional team tasks (setup/teardown/etc.).
Shop Execution: Maintain organization and cleanliness within the work area.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Support Pratt Miller initiatives, marketing events, and general development as required.
Contribute to vehicle development and testing alongside standard race team operations.
Provide constructive feedback on product requirements and processes.
Develop leadership capabilities.
Collaborate with Car Chiefs, Engineers, and Operations Manager to establish a consistent level of preparation for racecars.
Foster a positive attitude with a focus on teamwork.
Seek out and identify opportunities to enhance your skill set.
Recognize issues and assist in proposing solutions to the Crew Chief and Car Chiefs.
Provide insights on long-term racecar planning.
Understand and refine the skills necessary to make accurate adjustments to the vehicle trackside.
Concentrate on learning and improving knowledge of vehicle systems.
Assist with additional team tasks (setup/teardown/etc.).

Education and Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in motorsports, emphasizing mechanical vehicle preparation, car development, and event execution.

Experience working collaboratively within a team to achieve program objectives and foster continuous improvement.

Work Environment/Physical Demands: Periodic stress may occur.
Typical shop hours commence at 7 AM, with extended hours occasionally required.
Traveling race events may necessitate longer hours.
Up to 60% travel may be required.
Weekend and holiday work may be necessary based on the race schedule.
Physical labor is a regular aspect of daily responsibilities.
A team-oriented mindset is essential for success in this position.
