An innovative global automotive enterprise engaged in the development of hybrid eVTOL technology is dedicated to pioneering advancements through creativity and making a significant impact on our environment. As a Senior Flight Control Law Design Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Vehicle Dynamics and Control Team. This cohesive group is focused on creating flight control laws for both the Primary Flight Control System and the Automatic Flight Control System of a highly augmented aerial vehicle.

In this capacity, your responsibilities will encompass the design and evaluation of flight control law functions, which will include both rotorcraft-like and fixed-wing-like control methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define performance, integrity, and availability requirements for Fly-By-Wire (FBW) flight control functions.
  • Develop verification tests to validate flight control functions against established requirements.
  • Design and assess flight control law functions for primary and automatic flight control systems.
  • Conduct verification tests, analyze results, and document findings for flight control law functions.
  • Assist in the flight testing of flight control law functions.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 7-10+ years of experience in the aerospace sector in a relevant role.
  • 7-10+ years of expertise in fixed-wing or rotorcraft control law design, analysis, and testing within the aerospace industry.
  • Proficiency in Matlab and Simulink.
  • A comprehensive understanding of classical and modern control system theories and their practical applications in design.
  • Knowledge of frequency domain concepts and their application in aircraft flight control design.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline; a Master's or Doctorate Degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with feedback and feedforward control architectures and their practical applications.
  • A solid understanding of rotorcraft and/or fixed-wing flight dynamics, including stability and control principles and handling qualities criteria.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze engineering analyses and test results.
  • A commitment to teamwork and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with IBM DOORS.
  • Knowledge of aircraft certification processes with FAA, EASA, TCCA, or other global certification authorities.
  • Experience with highly integrated system development in accordance with SAE guidance ARP-4754A.
  • Familiarity with systems compliant with RTCA standards relevant to aircraft development, such as DO-160, DO-254, DO-178, DO-331.
