Position Summary

As a Senior Aerospace Test Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development and successful testing of the Stratolaunch Roc carrier aircraft, renowned for its unparalleled wingspan, alongside other high-speed test vehicles.

Your leadership will be crucial in the mission control room, where you will serve as a test conductor or in a similar capacity during flight and air-launch test missions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the mission control team as a test conductor during experimental flight tests of the Roc carrier aircraft and Talon hypersonic vehicles.
  • Ensure the safe and effective execution of ground and flight test missions, providing engineering support from the mission control room.
  • Develop in-depth engineering and system knowledge to facilitate rapid decision-making and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Conduct flight readiness reviews and coordinate necessary resources for flight test missions.
  • Create and document procedures for mission control operations, supporting air-launch tests with multiple aircraft.
  • Collaborate with vehicle engineering teams to define test requirements and address safety or operational concerns.
  • Manage test-specific vehicle limitations and readiness review actions.
  • Assess the preparedness of mission control engineers and support functions.
  • Travel as necessary to support mission planning and launch meetings.
Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Technical aerospace experience with a strong foundation in a relevant discipline.
  • Proven ability to analyze and prioritize tasks independently, driving projects to completion.
  • Experience leading teams, making informed decisions, and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Background with experimental or modified aircraft and familiarity with safety review processes.
  • Proficiency in engineering and test data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours and travel as needed.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications

Highly desired qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Graduation from a recognized test pilot school.
  • Experience as a Test Conductor in a developmental test program.
  • Familiarity with government flight test organizations and procedures.
Education

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
