Job Summary

The Intensive Treatment Program (ITP) is seeking a skilled Behavior Support Technician to join our team. As a Behavior Support Technician, you will work with adolescents diagnosed with Autism and/or Intellectual Disability and mental health concerns in a residential and educational setting.

You will be responsible for delivering evidence-based methods to support individuals with Autism and/or Intellectual Disability and mental health involvement. This includes Applied Behavior Analysis approaches, classroom observation, data collection, and supporting staff to implement individual behavior protocols and behavior intervention plans.

Additionally, you will assist with personal hygiene tasks and participate in community meetings, groups, and milieu programming. You will also be responsible for maintaining compliance with supervision status of individuals and freedom of movement as indicated by physician order and/or Program Director directive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient searches and patient belongings searches
  • Takes an active role in participating in and supporting a therapeutic and safe milieu
  • Develops a working knowledge of therapeutic interventions and interactions
  • Observes behaviors and communicates to the supervisor, medical, and others as appropriate
  • Works cooperatively with the treatment team in the collection of pertinent data to assist in the development of the individualized treatment plan and Individual Education Plan (IEP)
  • Implements the behavioral plan developed specifically for the individual
  • Provides ongoing feedback to regarding the individual's response to the behavior plan
  • Responsible for the administration and teaching of ADLs as required
  • Responsible for assistance with personal hygiene tasks, as required
Requirements
  • NYS Driver's License
  • High School Diploma
  • Preference will be given to those with the following credentials: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)
Physical Requirements

The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.
