Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly qualified and experienced Director of Accounting to lead our financial operations within our rapidly expanding construction division. This role is crucial for overseeing the financial strategies of the organization, including cash flow management, financial planning, and performance analysis. The successful candidate will ensure that our accounting and financial systems are precise and contribute to the overall success of the company. This position will report directly to the CFO and will be instrumental in defining and achieving the financial objectives of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise all accounting functions for the construction division, encompassing Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
2. Lead the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, monitor variances, and conduct monthly financial assessments.
3. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting, including the establishment and enforcement of internal control policies and procedures.
4. Manage compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax obligations.
5. Prepare and present timely monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to applicable standards and regulations.
6. Coordinate and direct the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and the finance committee of the board.
7. Assess and manage financial risks, conduct due diligence, and engage in cost management and project reviews.
8. Collaborate with the CFO to define, measure, analyze, enhance, and control processes that affect customer quality and internal operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA or MBA is preferred.
2. A minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in a senior capacity within the construction sector.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including experience in preparing financial statements and managing general ledger functions.
4. Proficient in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
5. Strong understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
6. Excellent analytical and strategic planning abilities, with a proven track record of managing multiple projects concurrently.
7. Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and lead a high-performing finance team.
8. Ability to meet deadlines and manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
9. Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff, as well as external partners and stakeholders.
