Job Overview:
The MRI Specialist is tasked with conducting medical imaging procedures under the supervision of a physician to aid in the diagnosis or treatment of medical conditions.

Position Details:

Department:
Intermountain Health Riverton Hospital

Work Schedule:
Part-time, 10 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:
Ensures accurate patient identification and verifies orders prior to examinations.
Conducts MRI imaging in accordance with departmental protocols.
Demonstrates knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and exhibits competency in anatomical positioning.
Evaluates own imaging results.
Completes imaging studies within designated timeframes while maintaining high standards of patient care and examination quality.
Collaborates with the radiologist to determine appropriate scanning techniques and protocols.
Possesses knowledge of protocols related to contrast administration and, under physician supervision, administers intravenous contrast materials to patients as needed.
Implements proper infection control and sterile techniques.
Operates all MRI equipment and associated information systems effectively to ensure quality image production.
Demonstrates proficiency in electronic imaging processes, including viewing, transferring, archiving, and manipulating images.
Maintains a solid understanding of MRI scanner operations, troubleshooting as necessary, and comprehends shutdown and startup procedures.
Exhibits familiarity with magnets, cryogens, gradient amplifiers, and relevant computer hardware and software.
Understands the Quench procedure and its appropriate application.
Adheres to MRI safety policies and comprehends the FOUR ZONE concept.
Recognizes proper MR magnet safety protocols in emergency situations.
Accurately completes all required documentation, including timestamps and image storage.
Follows established protocols for medical necessity, coding, and billing, ensuring necessary consents are obtained and documenting any occurrences for quality assurance, while maintaining a current quality control program for ACR and reporting any equipment malfunctions.

Minimum Qualifications:
ARRT registered technologist.
Current Utah State Licensure (for positions in Utah) to administer RX.
Basic life support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
Minimum of one year of MRI experience.
Post-hire expectation: Achieve departmental IV certification competency within three months of hire.
Post-hire expectation: (Where applicable) Complete the controlled substance module within six months of hire.
(Where applicable) Complete the initial moderate sedation module within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
MRI registered by ARRT.

Physical Requirements:
Hearing/Listening, Lifting, Manual Dexterity, Seeing, Standing.

Compensation:
The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
