Position Overview
The University of Minnesota's Department of Psychiatry is actively seeking to appoint new tenure-track faculty members at the levels of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.

Research Focus
The Department emphasizes the significance of neurodevelopment, neuroplasticity, and neuromodulation as pivotal areas for advancing research aimed at enhancing our understanding of the origins and early manifestations of mental health disorders.

Division Objectives
The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is dedicated to generating new insights into the causes and mechanisms of mental health issues affecting children and adolescents. The goal is to identify these challenges earlier and to develop more effective intervention strategies.

Position Requirements
Assistant Professor roles will be on the Tenure Track; candidates at this level are expected to possess relevant training and research achievements that align with the establishment of an independent and nationally recognized research program.

For Associate Professor and Professor roles, candidates will be eligible for Tenure Track or Tenure; these positions necessitate a proven record of independence and research productivity, including substantial external funding and peer-reviewed publications.

Qualifications
Qualified applicants must hold either an MD or DO degree, have completed specialized training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and demonstrate a successful research history in the field, which may include:

  • Investigating normal and abnormal developmental pathways in children and adolescents to elucidate the neurodevelopmental foundations of psychiatric disorders.
  • Creating methodologies for early detection, intervention, and prevention.
  • Employing experimental therapeutics to develop innovative interventions targeting neurobiology in children and adolescents with psychiatric conditions.
  • Utilizing neuromodulation techniques (e.g., brain stimulation, cognitive training) to enhance the understanding of neurodevelopment and neuroplasticity in children and adolescents.
