Labor Relations Consultant for Educational Professionals

The Ohio Education Association (OEA) is a prominent organization representing a vast network of educators, including teachers, faculty, and support staff across Ohio's educational institutions. We are currently seeking a dedicated individual for the role of UniServ Labor Relations Consultant. This pivotal position plays a crucial role in supporting the United Education Profession's objectives through effective membership engagement, recruitment, and advocacy for local associations and their members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitates and advises local associations throughout the collective bargaining process.
- Supports members and local associations in advocating for member rights.
- Provides guidance to leaders on local operations and aids in the development of local association programs.
- Contributes to the creation and distribution of communications and may act as a public spokesperson when required.
- Assists local associations in establishing robust public relations strategies.
- Utilizes resources from OEA/NEA to deliver programs and support through various learning opportunities, including workshops and training sessions.
- Engages in political advocacy efforts at local, state, and national levels.
- Offers assistance during crisis situations as needed.
- Collaborates with existing, new, and potential local associations in organizing activities.
- Facilitates professional issues advocacy for members and locals.
- Designs and delivers training sessions for leaders and members.
- Participates in field operations as assigned.
- Acts as a liaison and subject matter expert as required.
- Attends relevant conferences and workshops, sharing valuable insights gained from professional development opportunities.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor within the scope of the role.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Proven experience in organizing, consulting, political action, and member advocacy.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of building productive relationships.
- Excellent judgment and reasoning abilities.
- Creative problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including proposal drafting and presentation development.
- Familiarity with educational policies and the political landscape.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and various online communication platforms.
- Demonstrated energy, drive, and perseverance in pursuing projects.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary to fulfill OEA's objectives.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Flexibility to relocate if necessary.
