Role: UniServ Labor Relations Consultant
The Ohio Education Association (OEA) is a prominent organization representing a vast network of educators across Ohio. We are currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a UniServ Labor Relations Consultant. This role is pivotal in supporting the United Education Profession's objectives through effective membership engagement, recruitment, and advocacy for local associations and their members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and guide local associations through the collective bargaining process.
- Support members and local entities in advocating for member rights.
- Provide strategic advice to leaders on local operations and program development.
- Assist in crafting and distributing communications, serving as a spokesperson when necessary.
- Help local associations enhance their public relations efforts both internally and externally.
- Leverage OEA/NEA resources to deliver training and support through workshops and engagement initiatives.
- Engage in political advocacy efforts at various levels for local associations.
- Offer assistance during crisis situations as required.
- Collaborate with local associations on organizing activities, working closely with UniServ Organizers.
- Support members in professional advocacy matters.
- Design and deliver training programs for association leaders and members.
- Participate in field operations as assigned.
- Act as a liaison and subject matter expert as needed.
- Attend relevant conferences and workshops, sharing insights gained with the team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Proven experience in organizing, consulting, political action, and member advocacy.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of building productive relationships.
- Excellent judgment and reasoning abilities.
- Creative problem-solving skills in a dynamic work environment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to create proposals and presentations.
- Understanding of education policy and the political landscape.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and various online communication platforms.
- Demonstrated energy and perseverance in project execution.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.
- Openness to relocation if required.
