Position Overview

The Environmental Services Worker II is responsible for maintaining cleanliness across various locations within the facility. The role encompasses a range of duties that may vary based on departmental needs and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
  • Execute Environmental Services tasks efficiently, adhering to the established 7 Step Cleaning Process.
  • Ensure all cleaning duties meet quality standards to provide a hygienic and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of cleaning carts, equipment storage areas, and waste disposal zones, ensuring all materials are properly labeled.
  • Engage positively with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues through effective verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • Assist individuals as necessary or direct them to the appropriate personnel for support.
  • Utilize cleaning chemicals safely and according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Perform cleaning tasks in offices, patient rooms, classrooms, common areas, restrooms, hallways, food service zones, and any other areas requiring attention.
  • Conduct sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming of hallways, staircases, and office spaces.
  • Clean light fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, mattresses, furniture, windows, and window treatments.
  • Empty waste containers and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Restock supplies and materials as needed.
  • Rearrange furniture and set up tables and chairs for events.
  • Report maintenance needs or repairs to supervisory staff.
  • Adhere to all safety and risk management protocols established by the organization.
  • Document and report any accidents or injuries promptly.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings, training sessions, and hazard assessments.
  • Apply relevant OSHA and local safety regulations to all assigned tasks.
  • Complete all required training programs as designated by the organization, both in-person and online.
  • Handle and package Regulated Medical Waste and Chemo Waste as necessary.
  • Change cubicle and shower curtains when required.
Additional Duties
  • Perform other assigned tasks as necessary.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and standards.
  • Refer to departmental documentation provided during orientation for specific responsibilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with organizational policies and training.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of cleaning experience (Required)
  • Experience in a healthcare environment (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a solid work ethic and ability to work independently (Required proficiency).
  • Ability to comprehend written instructions and protocols (Required proficiency).
  • Proficient in using electronic and communication devices (Required proficiency).
  • Capability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours) (Required proficiency).
  • Physical ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds (Required proficiency).
  • Work primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor activities (Required proficiency).
  • Wear protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment as required due to exposure to cleaning chemicals (Required proficiency).
  • Ability to use ladders safely (Required proficiency).
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Rarely sitting.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of 50 lbs.
  • Regular pushing and pulling of 50 lbs.
  • Constant climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
  • Frequent talking and hearing.
  • Consistent eye/hand/foot coordination.
Travel Requirements
  • 10% travel may be required.
