Job Overview:


The Clinical Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting healthcare providers with patient management, documentation, appointment coordination, and supporting in-office medical procedures. This position also involves providing clerical assistance at the front desk as necessary, while ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for patients.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and policies.
  • Manages patient care tasks as assigned, which may include: monitoring schedules and optimizing patient flow; escorting patients to examination or procedure rooms; aiding patients with mobility, dressing, specimen collection, and preparation for examinations; gathering patient medical histories; conducting screenings as per provider protocols; assisting healthcare professionals with various procedures; documenting patient interactions; communicating instructions to patients and their families; answering inquiries and providing relevant information.
  • Handles clerical duties as required, which may involve: processing patient medical records; acquiring lab/x-ray results, hospital notes, and referral details; completing necessary forms and requisitions; scheduling patient appointments; verifying insurance details and patient information; managing medical charts to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
  • Oversees environmental responsibilities as assigned, which may include: preparing instruments and equipment in accordance with departmental standards; sanitizing examination and procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to uphold infection control protocols; maintaining sterilization equipment according to scheduled maintenance; ordering, organizing, and storing medical supplies; replenishing examination and procedure rooms.
  • Contributes to organizational responsibilities as assigned, which may include: respecting and promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency situations; promptly communicating any issues related to patients or staff to immediate supervisors.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Completion of a medical assisting program or Licensed Practical Nurse certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a role involving public interaction, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA/ABR-OE) is encouraged.
OR

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Work Environment:
The position involves a combination of tasks in a medical office and examination/procedure room settings. The environment is well-lit, adequately ventilated, and spacious. There may be exposure to communicable diseases and other common conditions found in a healthcare setting.

Physical and Mental Requirements:


Must utilize proper body mechanics when assisting with patient transfers and mobility. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds of medical supplies is required.
