Pre-Dental Program Academic Advisor

University of the Pacific is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to support the Pre-Dental Program in the Department of Biological Sciences.
Job Summary:The Pre-Dental Academic Advisor will provide educational guidance and assistance to biology majors in the Pre-Dental program, helping them achieve their academic goals and prepare for dental school. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of academic advising principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate and deliver advising to Pre-Dental Advantage students and other students interested in dental school.
- Assist students with developing academic plans, registering for classes, and meeting university degree requirements.
- Educate students about academic processes and policies, and provide referrals to academic and campus resources as needed.
- Participate in advising and admissions activities, including Fall orientation and meetings with prospective students and families.
- Keep and review records in compliance with FERPA and other relevant policies.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Three (3) years of related work experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening.
- Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in working with diverse populations.
- Ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion, and judgment.
- Masters Degree in a related field.
- Experience as an academic adviser at a college or university.
- Knowledge of NACADA's Core Values of Academic Advising.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
The work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with use of computer and phone. Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Compensation:The hiring range is $26.00 per hour to $27.00 per hour.
