Dental Hygiene Educator

The University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, invites applications for a part-time instructor position in the Dental Hygiene Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing content in preclinical skills and supervising and instructing students in patient care in the clinic setting.

Key responsibilities include instruction in the pre-clinical curriculum, teaching patient care skills, supervising students providing clinical patient care, and providing student feedback in verbal and written form using a standardized rubric.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of clinical practice, a current California RDH or DDS license, and current and valid CPR certification. Additionally, they will be able to communicate effectively with a diverse population of patients, students, staff, faculty, and administration, and demonstrate professional judgment in all situations.

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years clinical practice

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform basic life support including CPR
  • Must be able to position and reposition patients with disabilities
  • Must be able to maintain sitting and standing positions for a prolonged period
  • Must be able to operate dental unit controls
  • Must be able to use slow speed hand pieces for procedures

Hiring Range: $25 - $30 per hour
