Job Title: Risk Manager

Jefferson Health is seeking a highly skilled Risk Manager to join our team. As a Risk Manager, you will play a critical role in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating risks to ensure the highest level of patient safety and quality care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director of Risk Management in coordinating the risk management program, including the identification, evaluation, and treatment of risk in the organization.
  • Support the development of a systematic process to identify, assess, and treat actual and potential exposures to loss.
  • Collaborate with the OnPoint Safety and Quality team to identify safety issues and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Assist with communication and documentation of errors or serious events in accordance with legal requirements and/or accreditation standards.
  • Review patient complaints that may result in legal action and work with the Patient Relations Manager to offer solutions to patient grievances.
  • Assist in managing the policy process and support staff with policy clarification and decision making.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Enterprise Claims Department for the purpose of reporting potential claims, including but not limited to, professional liability, general liability, property, and auto damage.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with providers, management, and staff to promote open communication and accurate flow of information.
  • Review and ensure events are reported to the appropriate regulatory agencies as required by local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist clinical chairs and department heads in designing risk management programs within their departments.
  • Develop and conduct educational sessions on risk management for medical staff and employees.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations with an ability to function independently in the adoption and execution of standards.
  • Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with complete confidentiality and security.
  • Ability to interact with physicians, administrators, staff, patients/families, and personnel from outside organizations.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Three years of experience with progressively responsible experience in hospital risk management or a similar area of responsibility.
