Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Claims Assistant to join our team at Carrix, Inc./SSA Marine, Inc. This role will be responsible for daily administrative duties, including data entry, claims management, and general administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with data entry into the data management system and claims management software
  • Process incoming incident reports, create claims in the Origami risk software system, and create corresponding claim folders and reports
  • Work with the Accounts Payable team to create new vendors and ensure payment information is accurate
  • Manage invoice billing issues and questions, and process invoices into the Origami risk software system for payment
  • Perform general administrative duties, including scanning and saving incoming mail, timely notification to adjustors, and distribution of mail to adjusters
  • Close out files in the system when final resolution has been reached
  • Maintain vendor lists for California locations and communicate with terminals weekly
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2-4 years of detailed administrative work experience required
  • Understanding of industry operations, ILWU hiring/dispatching practices, retirement programs, and benefits, and how these affect claims administration processes preferred
  • Computer skills with a high degree of proficiency
  • Ability to communicate professionally with coworkers, management, clients, insureds, contractors, and other parties involved in the insurance claim process
