The Division of Information Technology serves as the backbone of Augusta University, managing all systems, networks, data, and applications while ensuring the security of our digital information. IT is committed to providing stable, reliable, and secure access for all stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, clinicians, patients, researchers, and visitors.

As the central IT service provider for Augusta University and many of AU Health's IT services, IT oversees critical resources such as the wired and wireless network, email, telephone, online collaboration services, information security, software licensing, and various other systems and applications.

Job Summary

The Senior IT Systems Architect leads architectural initiatives across multiple projects.

This role involves close collaboration with business partners, program managers, project managers, business analysts, software developers, quality analysts, and support specialists throughout all project phases to assess requirements in relation to associated infrastructure applications and systems. Responsibilities include modeling data and software processes, creating architectural documentation and blueprints, and providing architectural guidance and support to various projects.

The individual will also mentor software architects, developers, and other colleagues while driving strategic enterprise architecture initiatives.

This position requires adherence to the highest ethical standards, acting in the organization's best interest, and fully supporting the mission, vision, and values of AU & AU Health.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

ANALYSIS:

Evaluate business, academic, and research challenges alongside application programming requests concerning identity management setup and integration, while considering limitations imposed by the existing technical environment, standards, time constraints, personnel, financial resources, and desired outcomes.

Develops scope, objectives, and cost-benefit analyses to guide accepted requests.

DEVELOP SYSTEMS PLANS:

Formulate systems design plans and detailed specifications, collaborating with business systems analysts and adhering to established standards, to document system specifications for the development and implementation of identity management integrations and modifications within project timelines.

Identify deficiencies in current technology and process infrastructure, explore options, make recommendations, prototype solutions, and/or assess vendor solutions.

ADVISEMENT:

Provide guidance to internal and external system support personnel in diagnosing and resolving system issues, as well as applying upgrades and enhancements promptly. Troubleshoot system component failures and collaborate with Server and Network Administrators to maintain end-to-end system integrity.

Assist Account Management with user account inquiries to ensure timely and accurate resolution of access issues.

PARTICIPATE IN FIT-GAP STUDIES:

Collaborate with business systems analysts in fit-gap studies, reviews, and walkthroughs of functional requirements, system design, program specifications, test plans, and results, adhering to established standards.

Develop, test, and document systems according to standards to minimize issues and ensure quality control.

OVERSIGHT OF ASSIGNED PROJECTS:

Aid in managing and overseeing assigned projects and the work of technical staff involved in system design, development, and maintenance activities. May serve as project manager for large cross-departmental projects, ensuring timely delivery in accordance with project timelines.



MENTORSHIP:

Provide mentorship and training for technical personnel within IT and across the institution to ensure comprehensive knowledge of system applications, standards, operations, and capabilities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science/Information Technology or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

OR

Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Microfocus NetIQ Identity & Access Management suite, including setup, configuration, troubleshooting, driver development, Self Service Password Reset, and Role Based Provisioning.

Familiarity with RedHat Enterprise Linux 7+, including proficiency in OS-level commands for navigating directory structures and viewing files.

Experience with Novell eDirectory implementations, including installation, upgrades, and daily support.

Knowledge of HTML regular expressions and xPath expressions.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other software/databases.

SKILLS
Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, and customer service abilities.

ABILITIES
Capacity to maintain confidentiality.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift:
Days; Monday- Friday (may require work outside of regular business hours)

Pay Band:
B16

Salary:
$95,200/ annually - $108,582/ annually

Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.

Augusta University provides a range of benefits to full-time benefits-eligible employees and some half-time (or more) employees.


Benefits may include health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, Teachers Retirement System (or Optional Retirement Plan), as well as accrued vacation time, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays.

Final candidates will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Candidates educated at foreign institutions will also need to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
