JOB SUMMARY:

  • Prepare, install, and remove flight test instrumentation on production aircraft.
  • Conduct analyses of flight data and generate comprehensive reports.
  • Ensure that test instrumentation devices are operational, accurate, and regularly updated.
  • Compile acoustic synthesis reports and maintain historical databases in collaboration with the Flight Test Engineering Manager.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering or technical discipline related to aeronautics or aerospace. Relevant work experience may substitute for formal education, with a ratio of 1 year of education equating to 2 years of experience.
  • Aptitude for learning aircraft systems.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to safely enter and exit aircraft and navigate within the cabin, with or without reasonable accommodation.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge or background in aeronautics.
  • Experience in flight data analysis.
  • Familiarity with flight test processes and operations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Installation of flight test instrumentation, along with post-flight data analysis and reporting, will occur on experimental aircraft, often requiring overtime. Weekend and holiday work may be necessary, along with travel as needed for assignments.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

  • Coordinate with Flight Test Engineers to prepare, install, and remove flight test instrumentation from production aircraft.
  • Perform post-flight data analyses (including acoustic and vibration assessments) and produce associated technical reports, subject to review by both the Flight Test Engineer and the Engineering Manager.
  • Compile acoustic synthesis reports and maintain historical databases in collaboration with the Engineering Manager, implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Oversee the calibration program for flight operations test instrumentation and tools within the department.
  • Ensure that acoustic stations are updated and in compliance with operational standards.
  • Establish and maintain communication with flight test counterparts to share data on recurring issues and stay informed about the latest instrumentation devices and testing criteria.

Assist in managing future flight test instrumentation initiatives in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Flight Operations or the Flight Test Engineering Manager.
