Job Title: Systems Administrator

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to join our team in the Enterprise Operations Office of The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL). As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for providing systems administration, computing support, and specialized support services for the enablement of key research and administrative functions.

This role requires a strong understanding of operating system distributions, network security, and compliance measures. You will be responsible for administering and securing various operating system distributions, responding and remediating system and network security vulnerabilities, and implementing, testing, and supporting new and emerging technologies.

As a Systems Administrator, you will also be responsible for presenting system and network security principles and technology solutions to diverse audiences, conducting risk assessments to determine residual level of risk and any required mitigations, and ensuring proper operational support of systems, server, and hardware.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate's Degree or higher, plus 2 years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required skills and experience include the ability to certify and maintain information security related certification, knowledge in NIST/ISO standards, DoD directives, and regulatory requirements, and systems integration in a heterogeneous network environment.

Preferred skills and experience include a current, fully adjudicated TOP SECRET (Tier 5) clearance, and counterintelligence polygraph, experience in automating management of Linux and Windows systems, and VMware administration.

This position is located at the Reston, VA location and will be fully onsite.
