Job Overview

As the Head of Risk Management at Georgia System Operations Corporation, you will be instrumental in steering our organization towards a comprehensive risk management framework within the utility sector. This pivotal role emphasizes operational excellence and the safeguarding of our organization’s future through innovative risk mitigation strategies.

Position Summary:

In this leadership position, you will enhance collaboration and promote a culture of risk awareness across the enterprise. Your efforts will focus on the development and implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Program, working in tandem with leaders at all organizational levels. Key responsibilities include participating in business unit discussions, crafting educational initiatives, and facilitating dialogues to identify and address potential risks.

By partnering with executive leadership, you will help shape the vision and strategic direction of the risk management program, ensuring it aligns with the overarching goals of the organization. This role presents an exciting opportunity to make a substantial impact in the realm of risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with executive leadership to articulate and refine the vision for the Enterprise Risk Management Program, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Enterprise Risk Management Program, overseeing risk processes, standards, identification, prioritization, and mitigation strategies.
  • Encourage collaboration and enterprise-wide engagement in risk management, working closely with leaders across the organization to implement effective programs and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the organization’s risk culture, including active participation in industry-related groups and organizations.

Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.

Experience: A minimum of 10 years in risk management, with a preference for experience in the utility sector. A solid understanding of risk management methodologies and maturity models is essential. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required, with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences, from operational meetings to executive presentations.

Certifications: Professional risk management certification/designation such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) is preferred.
