Job Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver compassionate and constructive support to individuals and students in alignment with their Individual Support Plans (ISP) and Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
  • Collaborate with supervisory personnel to design and implement engaging curricula and activities tailored to the unique needs and abilities of each individual.
  • Foster positive interactions with individuals and students, promoting a sense of safety and belonging.
  • Ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
  • Complete necessary documentation as required by the organization.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, including grooming and feeding, while encouraging independence.
  • Engage actively with students to enhance their learning experiences and manage behavioral challenges.
  • Utilize effective behavior management strategies and support the implementation of ISP and IEP.
  • Facilitate daily routines and schedules as directed.
  • Follow supervisory guidance diligently.
  • Employ safe lifting techniques to assist individuals with mobility needs.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized environment for equipment and materials.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures as outlined in the staff handbook.
  • Participate in required training sessions, staff meetings, and program planning discussions.
  • Meet the physical demands of the role, including the ability to lift and assist individuals as needed.
  • Demonstrate proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Maintain necessary certifications and licenses.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: No prior experience is necessary.

Equipment and Materials

This role requires familiarity with assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and wheelchairs, along with the ability to obtain certifications in First Aid/CPR, Mandt, and Gentle Teaching.

Work Environment

The position is based in a school and day habilitation setting, working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Candidates must be able to meet the physical requirements of the role.

Schedule

Typical hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
