The Center for Developmentally Disabled (CDD) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Established in 1972, CDD offers a range of support including residential care, employment assistance, and educational services for children and adults in the Kansas City, MO area.

Key Responsibilities- Deliver compassionate and supportive assistance to individuals and students, adhering to their Individual Support Plans (ISP) and Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
- Collaborate with supervisory personnel to design educational activities tailored to the unique needs and abilities of each individual.
- Engage positively with individuals and students, fostering a safe and nurturing environment to enhance their sense of security and belonging.
- Ensure confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations regarding personal and program-related information.
- Complete necessary documentation as required by the organization.
- Assist with personal care tasks, promoting independence in grooming and hygiene routines.
- Actively participate in educational activities to support learning and behavior management.
- Implement appropriate behavior management strategies in line with ISP and IEP guidelines.
- Facilitate daily schedules and routines for individuals and students.
- Follow directives from supervisory staff to ensure effective program delivery.
- Utilize safe lifting techniques to assist individuals with mobility and transitions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of materials and equipment.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the staff handbook.
- Participate in required training sessions, staff meetings, and program planning discussions.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift, push, and pull over 50 lbs, as well as perform various physical tasks as needed.
- Possess strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Maintain necessary certifications and licenses as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: No prior experience is necessary.
Equipment and MaterialsThis role requires familiarity with mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts and wheelchairs, as well as the ability to obtain certifications in areas such as First Aid/CPR and Gentle Teaching.
Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a school and day habilitation setting, catering to individuals with developmental disabilities. Candidates must meet the physical demands of the role as outlined in the job description.
ScheduleTypical hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
