Key Responsibilities- Deliver compassionate and supportive assistance to individuals and students, aligning with their Individual Support Plan (ISP), Individualized Education Program (IEP), and other relevant documentation.
- Collaborate with supervisory personnel to design and implement curriculum and activities tailored to the unique needs and abilities of individuals and students.
- Engage positively with individuals and students, fostering a nurturing environment that promotes feelings of safety and affection.
- Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA/FERPA regulations.
- Complete necessary documentation as mandated.
- Assist with personal care tasks for individuals and students, such as grooming and feeding, while encouraging their independence.
- Actively participate in the learning process and manage behaviors through interactive engagement.
- Utilize appropriate behavior management strategies and support the implementation of ISP/IEP.
- Facilitate the daily program schedule and routines.
- Follow directives from supervisory staff diligently.
- Employ safe lifting techniques to assist individuals and students with transitions and personal care as required.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized environment for equipment and materials.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the staff handbook.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions, staff meetings, and program planning meetings as assigned.
- Demonstrate physical capability to lift, push, and pull over 50 lbs, and perform tasks that require sitting, squatting, kneeling, and getting up and down from the floor.
- Exhibit proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Maintain necessary certifications and licenses.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
EDUCATION: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
EXPERIENCE: No prior experience is necessary.
Equipment and Materials:
This role necessitates familiarity with a Hoyer lift and wheelchair, along with the ability to obtain and maintain certifications in Abuse & Neglect, First Aid/CPR, Mandt, and Gentle Teaching.
Work Environment:
The position is based in a school and day habilitation setting, catering to individuals with developmental disabilities. Candidates must meet the physical demands of the role as specified in the application and pre-employment physical assessment.
Schedule:
Typical hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
