The Culinary Service Representative 1 plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and precise assembly of patient meal trays, along with the delivery and collection of these trays to patient rooms or cafeteria-style service. This position involves preparing and delivering nourishments accurately and punctually. Depending on the schedule and meal ticket volume, assignments may vary, requiring flexibility to float between different stations or zones within the same shift. All tasks must be executed in accordance with departmental protocols and specific assignments. Exceptional customer service and adherence to the Hospital's Core Success Factors are essential in all interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Execute assigned food preparation tasks using basic kitchen tools to prepare sandwiches, salads, fruits, desserts, and other cold items while adhering to food safety standards.
- Patient Tray Assembly: Organize the assigned station for the patient tray line by assembling beverages and cold food items. Participate in tray assembly by interpreting meal tickets and placing the correct items on trays, ensuring food temperature and presentation standards are met.
- Patient Food Truck Delivery: During busy periods, transport and retrieve patient tray trucks and food supplies to and from care divisions, following established procedures for scanning and tracking deliveries.
- Patient Food Service: Deliver and serve food trays to patients, ensuring timely service. Upon arrival, verify tray accuracy and engage with patients, addressing any questions regarding food service.
- Tray Pickup: Collect dirty trays from patient rooms and units, ensuring all trays are returned to the dish room for processing.
- Nourishments: Assemble and deliver snacks and box lunches to patients, ensuring order accuracy and compliance with food safety standards.
- Sanitation and Personal Hygiene: Adhere to established sanitation and hygiene guidelines to prevent foodborne illnesses, maintaining a clean workspace by following the 'clean as you go' policy.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred, with a basic understanding of dietary principles.
Experience: Previous experience in hospital food service and customer service is preferred.
Special Skills: Ability to read, write, and comprehend English; must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
Physical Demand: Moderate physical activity is required, including standing and walking for extended periods, with the ability to lift and transport food supplies as needed.
