Huggins Hospital seeks a skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our medical staff.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians and advanced practice professionals with patient care, preparing patients for exams, and performing various clinical tasks.
Patient Access:
- Answer patient calls, schedule appointments, and process orders for tests and procedures.
Administrative Support:
- Prepare examination rooms, maintain medical records, and ensure accurate documentation.
EMR Utilization:
- Effectively use our electronic medical record system to document patient information and update medical histories.
Organizational Expectations:
Attendance:
Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for this role. You will be expected to complete scheduled shifts and maintain a high level of productivity.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
Internal Communication:
Effective communication is crucial for our team's success. You will be expected to contribute to a positive team environment and maintain respectful relationships with colleagues and patients.
Interpersonal Relationships:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, staff, and visitors. You will work collaboratively with other departments to ensure seamless patient care.
Safety:
Prioritize workplace safety and adhere to established protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Employee Engagement:
- Participate in hospital-wide service excellence initiatives and training programs.
- Attend and contribute to department staff meetings, and review meeting minutes.
- Complete annual education requirements on time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
As a Medical Assistant, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will also have basic computer skills and the ability to learn our electronic medical record system.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform occasional light lifting.
- Ability to manage mental stress and maintain a high level of productivity.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with computer and business machines.
Qualifications:
Education:
A Medical Assistant Program graduate is preferred, but not required. Completion of an accredited program or relevant experience will be considered.
Experience:
One to two years of experience in the medical field is preferred, but not required. Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program may be considered in lieu of experience.
License and Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
