Office Nurse RN

As a key member of the Huggins Hospital team, the Office Nurse RN plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of quality care and medical services. Under the general supervision of the Practice Director, this position works closely with Providers and the practice team to coordinate and ensure the delivery of quality care and medical services.
Clinical Care:
The Office Nurse RN is responsible for accurately documenting patient information, preparing and administering medication, and performing various clinical tasks as needed. This includes:
- Accurately documenting patient information, including chief complaint, medical history, and vital signs
- Preparing and administering medication as directed by the Physician or Provider
- Performing EKGs, rapid strep screens, pregnancy tests, INR, flu swabs, and other tests as ordered by the Physician or Provider
- Assisting in minor surgeries and procedures, such as pap smears, suturing, dressing changes, catheterizations, skin lesion excision, and casting
- Providing patients with educational materials and instructing them on medications, diet, and exercise
Patient Access and Office Coordination:
The Office Nurse RN is also responsible for scheduling appointments, completing orders for patients, and ensuring efficient patient flow. This includes:
- Scheduling appointments and completing orders for patients
- Completing and processing referrals, pre-certifications, or pre-approvals as needed
- Ensuring efficient patient flow and providing timely assessment of patients presenting at the office
Clinical Support:
The Office Nurse RN provides clinical support for all Providers and Physicians, including:
- Providing clinical support for all Providers and Physicians
- Assisting Providers and Physicians with review of reports and clinical studies
- Assisting Providers and Physicians with communication to patients regarding test results, recommendations, and responses to treatment plans
Supply, Equipment and Medication Coordination:
The Office Nurse RN is responsible for supervising the maintenance of an inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring that emergency equipment is checked and functional, and caring for, cleaning, and sterilizing equipment as needed.
Organizational Expectations:
The Office Nurse RN is expected to maintain patient confidentiality, contribute to positive team performance and a culture of service excellence through effective communication, active listening, and respect, and maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, and visitors at all times.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
The Office Nurse RN must possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to safely perform the essential functions of the job, including:
- Ability to effectively manage considerable mental stress
- Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and convey information in a clear, concise, and accurate manner
Qualifications:
The Office Nurse RN must have a completion of RN or LPN program, one year office experience preferred, and a NH RN or LPN license, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
