Position Overview:

Leidos is on the lookout for a Lead Proposal Strategist with a robust background in U.S. Government proposals. This role is situated within the National Security Sector's Capture Excellence team, dedicated to supporting Leidos' most critical bids across the sector.

This is a remarkable opportunity for a motivated and versatile professional to significantly contribute to high-priority proposals.


Key Responsibilities:

The Lead Proposal Strategist will take charge of crafting clear, compliant, and persuasive proposal sections and volumes. The individual will collaborate closely with Capture Executives, Solution Architects, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to define, elicit, and communicate winning strategies along with technical, management, transition, and experience solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess the capability to identify necessary content to address requirements and evaluate against scoring criteria, as well as the aptitude to engage with highly technical concepts such as software development, cloud computing, cybersecurity, AI/ML, and data analytics.

Additionally, the individual must demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, showcasing a strong commitment to producing high-quality written documents in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.


Work Environment:

This position offers a hybrid work model, incorporating both telework and onsite collaboration as needed for proposal efforts.


Primary Duties:
  • Conduct interviews with Solution Architects and SMEs to document concepts, draft responses, and articulate solutions, transforming complex ideas into easily digestible text.
  • Collaborate with Capture Managers, Solution Architects, Program Managers, and Volume Leads to drive the development of proposal responses, ensuring alignment with proposal requirements.
  • Assume ownership of assigned volumes, leading the development process and guiding supporting writers to meet deadlines while ensuring high-quality written outputs.
  • Actively engage in team solutioning sessions to elicit and articulate solutions, strategies, approaches to executing the work, experience, win themes, and differentiators.
  • Incorporate feedback from various sources into documents, manage reviewer comments, and track the status of revisions.
  • Compose clear, compliant, compelling, and persuasive proposal sections.
  • Develop and implement process enhancements to elevate proposal quality.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of professional experience or a Master's Degree with 6+ years of experience.

A minimum of 5 years of experience as a proposal writer responding to Federal Government solicitations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with a basic understanding of SharePoint repositories.

Exceptional writing, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

A strong work ethic and a desire for continuous growth and excellence.

Evidence of a successful track record in producing high-quality, high-scoring proposals.

Demonstrated success in writing and leading technical, management, transition, staffing, and/or corporate experience and past performance volumes for complex projects.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Due to the nature of the role, U.S. citizenship is required.


Desired Qualifications:

8 years of experience in a competitive Federal Government proposal environment.

Experience with traditional video, live orals, and/or demonstration proposals.

Ability to mentor and guide others to ensure consistency across multiple authors.

Active Secret or Top-Secret clearance and eligibility for SCI.
