Job Summary:

The Department of Business Services at the University of Virginia seeks a highly skilled Financial Manager to oversee all financial operations for UVA Bookstores. This includes managing cash offices, accounts payable, and accounts receivable for multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage cash office operations, including reconciling daily POS and mail order cash and credit card transactions.
  • Oversee change funds, maintain office security, and follow audit procedures.
  • Manage accounts payable, including vendor maintenance, invoice processing, payments, returns, and vendor disputes.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including student charge, department charge, external accounts, and employee charge programs.
  • Develop annual operating, reserve, and 10-year budgets for all locations.
  • Reconcile monthly revenue, expenditures, and prepare cash reconciliations, income statements, and supporting financial schedules.
  • Prepare year-end projections for all locations and manage expenditures to ensure year-end obligations are met.
  • Supervise multiple employees and manage the daily operation activities of the business office.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject.
  • At least seven years of experience in a financial discipline, likely with supervisory experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial principles and analytical techniques.
  • Experience in higher education service-related settings with in-depth knowledge of accounting, finance, financial reporting systems, data mining, and data manipulation.
  • Knowledge of Workday and Oracle-based systems or similar financial database systems.
  • Experience in IT/finance/operational cross-functional projects and developing presentations for senior management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CMA, CFA, CTP, or CPA certification.
  • Experience in a state-funded higher education system.

Anticipated Hiring Range:

$70,000-$85,000, commensurate with education and experience.
