Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Financial Associate or Finance Generalist to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for reviewing, monitoring, and analyzing accounts in our financial systems, reconciling transactions, and reporting on the results. You will possess critical thinking and customer service skills, the ability to perform data analysis, troubleshoot transaction issues, and provide recommendations for workflow and process improvements.

Responsibilities:

As a Financial Associate or Finance Generalist, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

Financial Associate Responsibilities:

Analyze funds, projects, programs, and expense categories to ensure accurate entries and monitor account balances.

Perform necessary corrections and adjustments in the financial system.

Maintain financial records for department funds, following University and departmental policies and procedures, and maintain all documentation and records to comply with audit requirements.

Provide reports and analysis in support of administrative and operating activities.

Attend standing meetings and training sessions as needed to stay up-to-date on changes in policy and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities of a Finance Generalist:

Identify trends and anomalies in financial data, present findings to leaders.

Develop reports and analysis in support of changing needs of divisions.

Resolve procedural issues with operating and application teams.

Support the evolution of business processes through times of innovation.

Qualifications:

Finance Associate:

High School diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field is preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft office applications, or equivalent.

Finance Generalist:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field and two plus years of relevant experience. Relevant experience (four plus years) may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Expert in Microsoft office applications, or equivalent.

Compensation:

Anticipated Hiring Range for Financial Associate - $50,000 - $55,000

Anticipated Hiring Range for Financial Generalist - $60,000 - $65,000

This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Employee benefits package highlights include:
