Position: Marketing Intern at Foster Angels of Central Texas

Supervisor: Director of Communications & Partnerships

Commitment: 10-15 hours per week; Paid internship at $10/hour


Position Summary:
This internship offers a remarkable opportunity to gain invaluable experience while contributing to a mission-focused organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of children in foster care. The selected intern will collaborate closely with our dedicated team at this nonprofit, engaging in various tasks that support our mission. Responsibilities will encompass executing social media strategies, assisting with marketing initiatives, event coordination, and performing daily administrative tasks such as data entry, correspondence, and communication management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Social Media: Implement the social media strategy as outlined by the Director of Communications and Partnerships. Contribute innovative ideas and participate in brainstorming sessions to enhance the overall social media approach.
  • Marketing: Acquire skills in making minor website updates, creating promotional materials, and managing online communications. Support the maintenance of our blog and stay informed about current trends in foster care.
  • Development: Assist the Manager of Development & Grants with administrative tasks related to donor stewardship, including tracking contributions in our database and researching potential fundraising opportunities.
  • Event Coordination: Provide support to the team in organizing events such as the Shining Stars Luncheon and the Toys for Teens drive, along with any other events throughout the year.
  • Program Support: Aid the program team with weekly requests, which may involve data tracking, shopping, delivering completed requests to caseworkers, and maintaining an updated backend system log with request details.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate effective time management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Google Workspace (experience with Canva and WordPress is advantageous).
  • Familiarity with software tools such as GSuite, Slack, Asana, Canva, WordPress, Kindful, Mailchimp, and Later.
  • Genuine interest in the nonprofit sector and advocacy for children in foster care.
