Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and refresh the Austin Sports Commission (ASC) social media platforms utilizing Hootsuite
  • Handle incoming calls, welcome visitors, and assist in scheduling meetings, including those with partners and board members
  • Provide administrative support to the ASC team and convention sales personnel
  • Assist in the creation of sales proposals and manage CRM tasks
  • Engage in various projects as necessary, which may involve off-site event assistance
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Internship Goals

The Athletic Sales and Marketing intern will offer administrative support and office management for the sales team. The intern should be comfortable engaging with clients, board members, hotel staff, facility managers, partners, and team members. Reporting will be to the Executive Director of the Sports Commission, VP of Sales, Sports Sales Manager, and other Visit Austin staff as required.

About the Austin Sports Commission

The Austin Sports Commission aims to create economic benefits by attracting sporting events and sports-related gatherings to the greater Austin area, thereby improving the quality of life for all residents.

About the Convention Sales Department

The Convention Sales team is focused on promoting Austin to meeting and event professionals on a national and international level. This department generates significant revenue for local hotels and secures city-wide business that benefits multiple hotels, local enterprises, and the Austin Convention Center.

Internships at Visit Austin are compensated at $15.00 per hour, along with a monthly stipend for parking and transportation if working in the office.

The typical duration of the internship is one semester, requiring interns to work 15-20 hours per week during office hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Flexible scheduling options are available, and remote work may be considered.
