Position Overview: The Materials Procurement Coordinator plays a crucial role in sourcing production materials, managing demand and supply planning, processing purchase orders, and utilizing ERP systems for purchasing. This role collaborates closely with the production team to mitigate shortages and organize material flow. Additionally, the coordinator assists in developing and maintaining vendor relationships to effectively meet the facility's requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate, manage, and expedite purchase orders as necessary.
  • Ensure optimal stock levels while supporting the company in achieving inventory objectives.
  • Resolve and manage supply chain information related to purchasing and receiving; develop proficiency in the ERP system.
  • Evaluate sales order releases concerning capacity planning and material needs.
  • Oversee inventory levels, schedules, and availability of selected items, whether produced in-house or sourced externally, to align with production timelines.
  • Review work-in-progress material statuses from the production floor.
  • Communicate effectively with manufacturing staff, the purchasing department, and supervisors regarding material status and production planning challenges.
  • Conduct ongoing inventory assessments, verifying on-hand stock against ERP data and lead times.
  • Follow up weekly on overdue orders with suppliers.
  • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and provide feedback on supplier performance.
  • Assist in establishing and reinforcing effective inventory management practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Experience with ERP/Oracle systems in a manufacturing context is highly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a strong systems/process orientation.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate a sense of urgency.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Excellent project management and follow-up capabilities.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Job may involve stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and/or pulling.
  • Effective communication with others via phone, email, and in-person is essential.
  • Work environment may be subject to extreme temperatures.
  • Primary duties involve sitting/standing for up to 4 hours at a time.
