Job Summary

Divinity Homecare Services LLC is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nursing Shift Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our skilled nursing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of care and comfort for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Unit Managers in carrying out the day-to-day functions of the nursing department in accordance with current rules, regulations, and policies that govern the facility.
  • Communicate effectively with other shifts to ensure continuity of care; receive and give report from off-going and on-coming supervisory nurses.
  • Complete written/oral reports for the Director of Nursing concerning the operation of his/her shift.
  • Make frequent rounds on all units to ensure that all nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
  • Make nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees.
  • Ensure all established policies and procedures, including dress code and wearing name tags, are followed by all nursing personnel.
  • Make recommendations to the Director of Nursing regarding equipment and supply needs of the department.
  • Participate in the development of a written plan of care for each resident that identifies the problems/goals and interventions to be accomplished.
  • Review complaints/concerns expressed by residents or families and initiate written grievance report. Document actions taken to resolve the complaint at the Unit level, or refer to the Unit Manager, Director of Nursing or other Department Head for resolution.
  • Attend all Nursing Department staff meetings.
  • Identify problems and guide personnel to their solution.
  • Participate in regulatory agency inspections.
  • Assist in reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Staff Development Coordinator with the orientation of new personnel.
  • Complete evaluations on assigned personnel.
  • Serve as a liaison between all three shifts ensuring coordinated communication of residents' plans of care and new policies and procedures.
  • Assist nursing personnel in performing nursing care as necessary.
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, charting, etc.
  • Keep the Unit Managers and Director of Nursing informed on all changes in level of care of residents, needs and problems on the units.
  • Participate in facility safety program.
  • Support and enforce infection control policies and procedures.
  • Represent the Director and Assistant Director of Nursing for the duration of his/her shift. As supervisor, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
  • Ensure all staff are knowledgeable of the residents' responsibilities and rights including the right to refuse treatment.
  • Participate in the Quality Assessment/Performance Improvement Program.
  • Cooperate and maintain good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, families, and visitors.
  • Report and investigate all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
  • Communicate openly and cooperate with supervisors.
  • Accept responsibility for own actions and recognize the affect of personal behavior on residents' behavior.
  • Maintain awareness of the posted work schedule.
  • Report for work daily as scheduled and be ready to start shift at designated time.
  • Promptly notify supervisor of absence at least 2 hours prior to start of the shift.
  • Properly use breaks and privileges and do not abuse them.
  • Participate in in-services, nursing meetings, and ongoing education.
  • Regardless of all duties described above, the supervisor will be expected to automatically perform any and all duties professionally recognized as appropriate towards maximizing the care and comfort of all residents.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing – BSN preferred. Must have a current, valid RN license in Delaware or hold compact state license.
  • Must attend and participate in continuing education programs designed to keep abreast of changes in nursing practice as well as to maintain current licensure.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in the English language verbally and in writing.
  • Must possess current, comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice. Must demonstrate excellent clinical skills and judgment, including comprehensive nursing assessments; safe medication administration, intravenous therapy, enteral feedings, and treatments per infection control standards; and transcribing and implementing physicians orders accurately.
  • Must have two years nursing experience including one year of acute care experience. Must have knowledge of Federal and State regulations, laws, and guidelines related to skilled nursing.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory skills and the ability to work collaboratively with professional and nonprofessional personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, regulatory agencies, and the general public.
  • Must be compassionate and understanding of the needs of the elderly and disabled.
  • Must support and promote the core vision, mission, and values of Divinity Homecare Services LLC.
  • Must comply with HIPPA regulations related to confidentiality of all resident care information.
  • Must possess computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
